About Munich Passport Control

Munich Airport Franz Josef Strauss (MUC) serves as Lufthansa's secondary hub and handles a large volume of intercontinental arrivals for Bavaria and southern Germany. EES biometric registration applies to all non-Schengen arrivals in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Munich generally sees lower congestion than Frankfurt on equivalent routes, partly due to its more compact terminal design and efficient passport control layout. EES kiosks are positioned immediately after the flight of stairs from the gate areas.

Busiest periods: July–August, December, and late September–early October during Oktoberfest.
